"I write from the heart. It's the only way I know how to write." -
Roger Osborne
Osborne has written five books and publishes a quarterly
newsletter. Three of his books,
Land of Yesterday,
Pilgrimage to an Appalachian Mining Camp, and
Voices from Appalachia, are
nonfiction. The Mountains Wept and
My Mountain Angel, are fiction.
But even the fiction books are virtual mirror images of what it was like
growing up in an Appalachian coal mining camp during the '40s and '50s, just
before the automation upheaval forced millions of Appalachians to leave
their homes and find a new life outside the mountains.
